Love Your Curves!

By now I’m sure you’ve all heard about the latest enraging fashion scandal of the month: retailer Lane Bryant rose hell to ABC and FOX when the networks censored the plus-size store’s lingerie commercials for being too racy… and gave the go-ahead to Victoria’s Secret “The Nakeds” advertisements.

I hope all of you are as disgusted with this as we are here at SP. Talk about SERIOUS size discrimination! I don’t remember the last Victoria’s Secret commercial that didn’t include 100 pound, zero-fat models in barely any clothing rolling around on a bed; but apparently adding weight to that model (and making her look like the majority of America) crosses the line.

I understand that the bigger the curves, the more sumptuous the female form appears. And if I looked like those VS models I wouldn’t mind scampering around in nude underwear exclaiming “I love my body.” But networks shouldn’t be able to pick and choose which commercials they run based on what they like looking at better – a female figure is a female figure, and if you let one be broadcast in lingerie then you have to let the other.

This is just a reminder to all of you fabulously curvy women out there that you don’t have to be ashamed of your curves – embrace them! Get that Lane Bryant push-up bra and flaunt what you have. The more confident you are and the more you love your body, the more other people will notice your beauty and confidence.
