Mother-Daughter Duos: A Dress Story

Mother-Daughter Duos: A Dress Story

At Southern Protocol Bridal, you’d suspect the most important influence for our belles finding the one comes from their significant other. Often, however, the most beautiful bonds we see behind “yes to the dress” is between a mother and daughter.

In fact, Southern Protocol Bridal is owned by a mother-daughter duo, Ann E. Ervin and Lisa S. Rice. Boutique Manager Michelle’s daughter, Makenna, is also a frequent face at our boutique and local events. The mother-daughter dynamic is in our DNA.

With that said, here’s to mom and her presence through many major milestone events we enjoy and experience as women…as told through the dresses she helps us choose.

Graduation

Tucked beneath tee-length robes is a sweet shortie by Kate McDonald that reflects the wonder that is you. You cannot wait to throw your cap and celebrate both an achievement and new chapter with mom cheering you on.

As you take your diploma and shake the dean or headmaster’s hand, both you and mom are excited, terrified…and agree the rose gold shoes and Charleston rice bead bracelet were the right call!

Debutante

Ready for your grand debut? In your gorgeous white ball gown and long satin gloves, you step onto the social scene. The skirt on your long white gown flits and flounces as you walk down the ballroom stairs, but admittedly the pockets are your favorite touch. As you start your coalition dance, you can’t help but giggle remembering mom helping you practice the waltz.

Wedding

The big day! You’ve found the love of your life and are ready to tackle the world together with optimism and enthusiasm. On cloud nine, you feel like a queen in a sultry silhouette and divine lace detail.

Matthew Christopher's Brylee

Brylee by Matthew Christopher

The only star in the room shining as bright as you is mom decked to the nines in a beautiful metallic ball gown and crisp cream shell. You both hold back tears has she slips on your custom veil made with lace from your grandmother’s wedding gown.

In so many of our bridal appointments, mom is the sweet voice of encouragement and reason that leads our belle-to-be to finding her dream dress. To celebrate this bond, Southern Protocol Bridal is proudly sponsoring Lexus Charleston Fashion Week’s Mother-Daughter Night on March 18.

Take mom (or mom-to-be) on a date that includes peaks behind-the-scenes, runway shows, access to the exclusive Style Lounge, goodies and gifts, and Paul Mitchell makeovers.

The Southern Protocol Bridal team cannot wait to meet you and your mom, so be sure to get your tickets today!
