Avondale Pointe Haiti Relief Benefit
January 21st, 2010 by Sara
The images from the 7.0 earthquake last week in Haiti are heartbreaking. The outreach that I’ve seen personally from friends and family, as well as the efforts being made across the nation, are incredibly inspiring. It’s nice to know that in times of sadness and disaster we really can all get along!
Charleston has been doing its part to help the people of the small country(Charleston City Paper reported that locally-based Water Missions International has sent 10 water purification systems, and the Charleston Air Force Base planes have left to help). If you haven’t been able to donate your time or money yet, this weekend is your chance!
The festive Avondale area in West Ashley is holding a Haiti Relief Benefit this Saturday, from 2:00 – 5:00 pm. For only $20 you and your loved ones can come enjoy all-inclusive barbeque from Trangle, oysters from Pearlz, pasta from Al Li Da, and drinks in the Beer and Wine Garden. There will also be live entertainment to keep the happy atmosphere going. All of the proceeds – yes, ALL – will go directly to the Red Cross to help those in Haiti.
I can’t think of a better way to spend my Saturday afternoon.
